Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Gardeners Cann Hall
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps Gardeners Cann Hall has taken, and continues to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our operations or supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to safeguard against any form of modern slavery.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Gardeners Cann Hall maintains a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking, servitude, child labour, and any other abuse of human rights. This policy applies to all persons working for us or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, contractors, agency workers, volunteers, and our suppliers.
We expect everyone associated with Gardeners Cann Hall to share this commitment. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated seriously and may result in the termination of employment or business relationships, and where appropriate, will be reported to the relevant authorities.
Risk Assessment and Due Diligence
We undertake ongoing risk assessments to identify areas of our operations and supply chains that may be more vulnerable to modern slavery. These assessments consider the nature of the services and products we procure, the geographic locations of suppliers, and the types of labour used.
Where higher risks are identified, we apply enhanced due diligence measures. These may include more detailed inquiries into labour practices, requests for supporting documentation on worker protections, and discussions with suppliers about their own policies, training, and monitoring processes.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Gardeners Cann Hall is committed to working only with suppliers who uphold standards consistent with our zero-tolerance approach. All key suppliers are required to acknowledge and comply with our expectations on human rights, labour practices, and ethical conduct.
We undertake supplier audits, which may be desk-based reviews or on-site assessments, to verify compliance with these standards. These audits can include reviewing employment contracts, wage records, working hours, and evidence of age verification processes. Where non-compliance or areas of concern are identified, we expect prompt corrective actions and may conduct follow-up audits to ensure these actions are effectively implemented.
If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards within a reasonable timeframe, Gardeners Cann Hall reserves the right to reduce, suspend, or terminate the business relationship.
Training and Awareness
We provide training and guidance for relevant employees to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery and understand the procedures for raising concerns. This includes management personnel who have responsibility for procurement, contracts, and supplier relationships, as well as those involved in recruitment and human resources.
By raising awareness and building knowledge, we aim to ensure that modern slavery risks are identified and addressed at an early stage and that employees understand their personal responsibility to uphold our values.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Gardeners Cann Hall encourages anyone working for or with us to report any concern or suspicion of modern slavery at the earliest possible stage. Concerns can be raised confidentially through our internal reporting channels or directly with management.
We do not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. All reports are taken seriously, investigated promptly, and handled sensitively. Where necessary, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and other relevant agencies.
Monitoring, Accountability and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing this Modern Slavery Statement and its implementation rests with the senior management of Gardeners Cann Hall. They are accountable for ensuring that appropriate resources, processes, and controls are in place to prevent and address modern slavery risks.
We are committed to continuous improvement. This statement and the measures it describes are reviewed annually to assess their effectiveness, reflect any changes in legislation or guidance, and incorporate lessons learned from our ongoing monitoring, audits, and risk assessments.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Gardeners Cann Hall and will be updated each year to report on our progress and reaffirm our commitment to eradicating modern slavery in all its forms.
